COVID-19 risk perceptions, worries and preventive behaviors in patients with previous pulmonary embolism

IntroductionThe presence of conditions, such as cardiovascular or chronic lung diseases, was reported to be associated with more severe cases COVID-19. It is, however, so far unclear how patients a history pulmonary embolism (PE) perceive their individual COVID-19 risk. Moreover, worries and preventive behaviors associations risk perception are unknown.Materials methodsA postal survey conducted in April 2020, including participants previous PE from the German “Lungenembolie Augsburg” (LEA) cohort study. The questionnaire contained items on knowledge, (infection likelihood, susceptibility, dangerousness), information sources satisfaction information, assignment high group due pre-existing worries, infection implementation behaviors.ResultsFrom 185 respondents, 71.7% assigned themselves terms developing case likelihood being infected rated verylow/low by 82.3% susceptability 37.8%. A considerable percentage expected very high/high hospital (48.3%) at doctor's practice (37.9%). Major were patients' general practitioners (48.9%) internet (31.5%).
